Researching a little more into the lens for the camera. It will work with just a pinhole, but the beauty of using a lens is that it collects a lot more light so you get a brighter image in your camera. There are all sorts of sums involved with choosing a lens and often it comes down to a little experiment (well, when I do it anyway!). What’s key is something called a focal length – the focal length of the camera needs to be the same as the distance between the lens and the focussing screen. Luckily I am likely to have an adjustable focussing screen so I have a little leeway where this is concerned.
It would be really great to keep the option of using solely a pinhole too, as it should work for all the extra specially sunny days we’ll have on tour and will show how simple photography can be.
If any one out there has any old, broken or disused lenses It’d be great to install them also and see how they bend and shape the light. Experimentation is always good.
